Good Riddance, Racks

‘Great headline this morning: CD racks are becoming obsolete thanks to digital music. Yes! Finally, homes everywhere will be rid of those unattractive plastic, metal and wooden holders on walls, floors and desktops.
Now that’s welcome news, especially for people who are downsizing. Here’s the link:
It’s exciting that technology is helping to make houses and apartments look less visually chaotic. For years I have been on a personal campaign to rid my clients’ rooms of those unsightly things, especially my favorite - not! - the floor rack, which can make any space look cluttered in seconds.
If you have CD racks sitting on your floor (or any place else), donate them to a charity or school and find a drawer or cabinet where your CDs can be lined up neatly and stored out of sight. Your home will feel more tranquil and everything will look tidier.
Great to see you’ve got a blog, Laurie. Looking forward to lots of tips and examples. My husband resolved the CD clutter by building a cherry media cabinet that houses our LPs, CDs, tapes, and VCR tapes.
I long ago abandoned having to dust my CD racks (they took up an entire WALL for cryin’ out loud) by putting all my music in neat, zippered albums. CaseLogic makes a good one; there are many others. Save the disc and artist info, toss the hard plastic holder.
Congrats on entering the digital age, Lauri!
