Artwork With No Hang-Ups

Whether you rent or own your home an easy way to display your artwork and collectibles and also avoid making holes in many of your walls is to install an art ledge where you can simply prop up one or more pieces against the wall.wall_shelf

One or two simple wooden shelves, painted or stained to match your decor, will provide a space for you to rotate your artwork or other objects whenever you feel the urge to switch things around, a good thing if you are a home design lover who gets the itch to rearrange your pieces on a regular basis or someone who would like to rotate a large collection.displayshelf2

If your trim is white, a shelf that is painted to match will look well coordinated; if your room has a lot of wood elements install one that will match the predominant stain. A black shelf will work in most spaces, too.

Depending upon the artwork you already own, you can display one large piece, alone, on a long shelf, or lean and “layer” several smaller framed prints or photos together, against a wall, across one or more shelves. And, if you are lucky enough to have a fireplace mantel, you can use that instead of a shelf. Just be sure that all of the framed pieces of art or photography are unified in just one finish for a cohesive look.

I am so in love with that beautiful camera collection! They seem well displayed, too.

Hi Annie,
The secret to a well-displayed collection is grouping it all together.
You can see more of that great camera collection on page 121, in Downsizing Your Home With Style.
