I just returned from the home of a client I’d worked with previously. When I first met the woman, who is in her late 40s, she’d hired me to redecorate four rooms. At the end of her consultation she asked if I had ever helped clients with personal styling, too. I explained that I have edited wardrobes and makeup bags, because I love doing any kind of makeover. So, today that is what we did.

We went through her closet and isolated the pieces that looked best and fit her well and then created a number of outfits using those separates. She was very excited because we not only created a bunch of “new” looks that she said she “never would have thought of” (’love that phrase!), but her closet looked more spacious and neatly organized. Plus, we had filled two big bags with things for her local consignment store and charity. Finally, we went through her makeup bag and kept only the products that worked well for her coloring and complexion. (Years ago, when I studied acting, I took a professional makeup course and was licensed.)

The end result: She looked fabulous and we’d simply used what she already had.
