When choosing paint colors throughout your home, especially with an open floor plan, you should consider tying in one color throughout. For example; paint the walls through the main area of the house a color and tie in the color in other rooms through drapery, furniture or accents. Colors for areas such as hallways could be a couple of shades lighterthan the main room.
Always test paint by painting a large block on the wall. If that isn’t possible, ask your local craft or home improvement store for paint boards and paint them with the color you want to test. You should never depend on paint chips from the paint company to be correct, they are printed on paper and will not represent how the color will appear on your wall.
