Fast And Easy Use What You Have Decorating Ideas

January 17, 2013

Before

Before

Aside from making rooms prettier, more comfortable and functional, we love surprising our clients by saving them money with use what you have decorating ideas.

This New York client was ready to toss out her living room furniture, except for the coffee table that had sentimental value. My decorator trainees and I suggested that a few adjustments might make the space work better so, in an hour the art was rehung, the furniture placement and accessories were tweaked, and a small bookcase was moved to another room. Plus, a new reading corner was created at her window. She was surprised to see how much more comfortable and peaceful the room looked and felt, so quickly.

After

After

With a design plan that simply recommended downsizing the back cushions of her sofa and reupholstering it in a textured, solid fabric, plus possibly changing the window treatment and lamps, the client had another idea: planning a nice vacation.

I agree, the visuals for the before and afters are great! I use your first book like a reference book, always by my side when I’m deciding anything about my house.

I would also LOVE to see you do a post about colour. Or maybe a new book?

Hi Rachelle,

Thank you for your kind words. ‘So glad you have been using the first book as was originally intended. I will do a post about color soon and perhaps a webinar in 2013.
