After yesterday’s mid-week summer holiday, today feels like it’s Monday because there are a lot of things on my To-Do list. But I read a blog this morning in the New York Times, ‘The Busy Trap,’ and it made me realize I have a choice and there’s no need to feel guilty about taking a bit more time off to enjoy life.
The good news about being an entrepreneur is that I have the freedom to decide what I want to do (which compensates for all of those 12-15 hour work days I choose to have as well).
Statistics show that people in many other countries are accustomed to having a lot more vacation days than we Americans. They got the memo that everyone dies with a full in-box and they seem to know how to slow down and appreciate life.
So, I’m making an executive decision: I’m going to the beach and taking the rest of the week off. No guilt. I’ve earned it and my work can wait. I can’t.
