May, 2004 Contest: Which of your relatives lives closest to you and how often do you see each other?

Congratulations to our contest winner!
Karin Buchanan of Westbridge, BC Canada

My daughter and son live in the city about 60 miles away. I live in the countryside without a vehicle because I can’t afford insurance. Both of my children drive beat-up cars because they have just started their careers and are poor after being in school for so long. So my answer is: NEVER ENOUGH!
I saw them last at Christmas, and my heart aches for them. Now I know how my Mom felt when I left the nest. My kids and I talk all the time via phone and email, but it is not the same. I want to hug my babies (who are much taller than I), and just stare at them. To me they are the most beautiful creatures in the world. Now my biggest challenge, as a single Mom, is to fill the void they left with something that will make me feel both happy and useful. It is proving very hard to do.
